Wonderful resort. The setting, the views, the landscaping, the beach, the history - all just so special. As others have noted the room location being so close to the surf is unique. We woke up every morning and just opened our doors and listened to the waves crashing. The service was top notch. Team members are excited to converse and talk with pride about the hotel. Special thanks to Will and Arelis at Positivo and Chen our embajador. Also we had a great time with Santos at Encanto restaurant (not part of hotel but on the bigger property). We liked their bar and their burger and chicken parm! The spa is pricey but worth checking out for a treatment in part so you can enjoy the wide range of facilities (steam room, plunge pools, hot pools. etc). We loved how small and intimate the hotel feels - yet with every comfort available. It’s also nice that, since Puerto Rico is part of the US, there were no passport/customs formalities for us. We were on the beach within ~1 hour of landing at SJU! Very much looking fwd to a return visit.

I joined my husband on a business trip last week at Dorado Beach Reserve. During our stay, I began coming down with a terrible cold. I asked for some tea, but what I received was beyond my expectations-all I needed to feel better. Thanks to Andrea Mendoza!

I thought this was the nicest beach I have been to outside of Hawaii. Very safe and protected and ohh so close to the room! The lower level rooms we too busy with people walking around in front of you, but the upstairs rooms were uber. So, moving on, I thought the rooms and the woodwork and the whole package was as nice as I have ever been to. It reminded me of the rooms at Hualalai in Kona. We do not think we could even afford the hardware, never mind the woodwork! Again about the room, it was so close to the beach I could almost throw a golf ball into the ocean. Speaking of golf, we played a number of times at their course too. Not sure how this makes it a top 25 in the world but it was nice (just not top 25 by any means) Still, we had a blast and they were totally great to us! The gals running the Spa had to deal with an internal issue and I had to hustle a bit for my birthday but they could not have done a better job. They were so nice. Then they comp-ed us for our treatment. As far as the bicycles go... it may be time for some TLC for them LOL. I was going downhill with the brakes on full and let's just say it was an adventure! But even so, how can you knock the place. Ritz has been quite good to us as we like 4-S too and try to stay at their destination. However, Ritz please keep on showing us the love and we'' be picking you first!

A mixed bag, but overall not worth the money. Pros: 1. Rooms are beautiful and enormous, with amazing beach views. 2. Everyone was friendly and treated our baby so well. 3. Food was great. Cons: 1. The front desk is a mess. Our room wasn’t ready at the “guaranteed” check-in and we were told it was because we were part of a large group, which we weren’t. Then to make things right we were told we would see a $200 credit for the inconvenience of the room not being ready, but that credit wasn’t there when we checked out. 2. The resort itself is dirty and shabby, with beach chairs broken and covered in mildew.

This place is beyond luxe and we loved every second of our stay. We originally only planned one night b/c of the cost, but we're so glad we added a second night. The restaurants, service and rooms are just as good as they come and we were so sad to leave. We did not use our embajador for much at all and felt a little awkward about that, but everyone was SO friendly and helpful.

The best vacation spot that I have ever visited. The beaches were clean. The food was excellent. The service was fantastic. We had breakfast at the main dining area and it was great. The Italian restaurant rivals the best in NYC. Love this place.

We visited Dorado Beach Ritz Reserve for our anniversary in Aug of 2024. The property and room were breathtaking however the services did not live up to the price and expected quality of the stay. My husband and I were highly disappointed in the level of attention to detail and lack responsiveness shown by the ambassador team (Bulter Service). Many of our requests for assistance were not acknowledged or by the time they were acknowledged I had already completed the actions on my own. The ambassador team also did not follow through on many of the actions they recommended/offered. I also did not receive a full tour of the Dorado property and had no idea of all the amenities that were available to us such as the many restaurants that fall outside of the RITZ Reserve portion of the property and the water park and because of this I don’t feel as if we were able to maximize the full potential of our stay. I recommend that RITZ Reserve team provides full tours of the DORADO Property to all of their guests upon arrival (or at lease provide a full listing of amenities and restaurants) instead of limiting their guests too the few options made available to then within the RITZ Reserve boundary of the property.

10/10 experience at Dorado Ritz-Reserve. My husband and I took our honeymoon at this resort and it was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. They upgraded us to a west side suite and it was everything. The rooms are amazing, with an outdoor shower which was my favorite part. The property is HUGE! Make sure you go on the tour and rent some bikes as well. It was a tropical paradise. Every single staff member we encountered was truly remarkable. Our ambassadors Trent and Chen made our honeymoon so amazing. Every restaurant was phenomenal, especially Positivo. We ate there twice! I really want to recognize the hard working, passionate, professional employees we had the pleasure of meeting over the 4 days we were there. I apologize in advance for those I forgot to mention. These people were the best part of Dorado Ritz-Reserve. I could go on and on, but I’m sure you get the point now! I am counting down the days till I return to this magical place. We spent the 4th of July here. The service was 95% fantastic (upon checkout, the bellman didn't show up for 15 mins, so we walked with our luggage to the arrival pavilion in the end). The highlight was the security team, I lost one of my earrings on my way from our suite to the library, I tried to find it myself, but couldn't. Talked to the front desk, and they sent the security to look for it. They found it! Thank you so much! F&B: COA Waygu and A5 steaks were amazing! Loved the Pina Coladas from Positivo. I was surprised and disappointed by the yoga class charge on the final bill. I saw two pages of schedules in the room, one is nature-related activities with prices on it, another is the weekly wellness classes without prices. I thought the workout classes were included in the resort fee like all other wellness resorts we have been to, especially, in our room has a yoga mat. Nope, it's a la carte. I don't mind paying but it would be better with the correct information up front. (The butler told the bellman to drive me to Barlovento, but it's actually at Encanto Beach Club). Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It's a beautiful and relaxing resort!

Great Service but hidden costs/price gouging - beware! The good: - Service is fantastic and on par with expectations for a 5-star hotel. Butlers do a particularly good job making sure every need is attended to. - rooms are lovely, especially the outdoor shower in the beach kings. - beach is secluded and pristine - cold plunge and hot pools are very refreshing/relaxing - Restaurants owned by hotel are very good (but absurdly overpriced). -amenities at the spa are fantastic as is the setting - very nice gym facilities The bad: - death by hidden fees… they threw 150$ a night resort fee on the bill without telling us. They also charged 40$ a day for parking without telling us. We only paid 1000$ a night for our room.. a +15% hidden fee is just rude. Tell us upfront, don’t hide this stuff. This is why I will not come back. - the restaurants are truly price gouging. I live in manhattan and am rarely hit with sticker shock looking at prices.. but good lord are COA and Positivo absurdly overpriced (85$ for a don julio 1942! More expensive than any restaurant in manhattan). -Spa amenities were great, the massages themselves were below average. No matter what treatment you select, you will get a low pressure “relaxation massage”. I pinched a nerve in my neck and specifically asked for a deep tissue treatment. 400$ later I was frustrated and still in pain. - hot water in the bathrooms takes 15+ minutes to kick in. We would wake up in the morning and turn on our showers then go back to bed for 20 min to let it warm up. - restaurants not owned by hotel, like Encanto, should be avoided at all costs. Wait staff was outright rude. The manager took notice of our treatment and offered some compensation but we politely refused and simply will not return. Overall, this was a pretty good experience. When price adjusted, it falls into the 3-4 star bucket for me. We have stayed at many 5 star Caribbean resorts, and Dorado beach probably falls somewhere just below the middle in terms of value/experience.
